Design Process
How Sculpscape will design your dream garden space step by step. The following guide provides a useful overview of a typical garden design process.
Stage 1: Initial consultation, site visit, and brief.
Every project begins with an initial meeting between me and you the client where we can discuss your needs, aspirations, aesthetical visions, and functional requirements for the garden. These conversations will help us together to create an agreed ‘client brief’.
Stage 2: Site survey and analysis.
This information-gathering stage is vital for the garden design process. For small garden sites, I will undertake a detailed site analysis of your current garden. If your garden is larger and more complex, the commissioning of a professional topographical survey may be necessary.
Stage 3: Concept design outline plans.
The gathered information from the client brief and the site analysis leads to the creative part of the designing process. This comprises concept outline design plans, a 3D CAD model of the garden, perspective views, and soft and hardscape mood boards, all designed to help you envision your new garden.

Stage 4: Landscape masterplan.
When you agree to the proposed concept plan, we will produce the final masterplan drawing. The plan will include the final layout of the garden with all agreed material choices and features.
Stage 5: Design specification drawings and documents.
Once the masterplan is finalised we will produce detailed drawings, including hard landscape elements; construction drawings, paving specifications, walls, garden structures, steps, water features, etc., also, all soft landscaping which includes; planting plans, plant schedules, and aftercare guidance. If necessary this stage may need the involvement of professionals related to the construction project like architects, engineers, fabricators, planning application consultants, etc.

Stage 6: Tendering for landscape contractors.
We will send the tender documentation to suitable professional landscape contractors. With our help, we will lease the quotation process on your behalf, either with a chosen by you contractor or with three or more recommended contractors. They will be invited to quote for the garden construction.
Stage 7: Garden construction and planting.
At this stage when a contractor is in place, we can monitor the garden build on your behalf if required. We will make sure that the garden is built and planted as per our design and to the highest standards.
Stage 8: Garden after-care.
Gardens are living breathing spaces exposed to the elements and seasonal changes. All gardens will need some maintenance. After the build is completed, we will advise you on the key after-care requirements for your new garden, so you can keep the garden looking beautiful and enjoyed for many years to come.
